DUCATI MULTISTRADA V4 RS: A NEW DISCOVERY WITH RAPID BIKE SMART2
IMPROVING TORQUE AT MID-RANGE FOR A SHARPER RESPONSE
Dimsport’s Rapid Bike team has completed the development of Smart2 add-on module for 2024-26 Ducati Multistrada V4 RS.
This motorcycle is already capable of remarkable performance, blending the sporty character of V4 engine with the versatility typical of Multistrada; with the installation of Smart2, it now benefits from even sharper power delivery ready to be exploited for both daily commuting and fast riding.
Tests conducted on the Dyno Bike bench revealed impressive results, especially during partial-throttle openings where Smart2 makes the engine response more reactive and stronger without sacrificing smooth power delivery at high RPMs.
RAPID BIKE SMART2: MAKING V4 ENGINE EVEN MORE USER-FRIENDLY
Rapid Bike Smart2 manages the stock lambda sensors signal and optimizes the air-fuel mixture across different operating conditions; the specific goal is to target the range where the OE electronic management prioritizes fuel economy and emissions restrictive standards.
The result is an accurate and prompt throttle response while reaching a mid-range stronger power curve and a smoother, more progressive revs-going-up. This advantage is quite noticeable during road riding, where wide-open throttle is rarely used and the engine’s ability to respond quickly to partial throttle openings makes a big difference.
RESULTS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The main benefit is evident with testing at 40% throttle opening: the Multistrada V4 RS shows 55.7 hp at 8,124 rpm in stock configuration. With Rapid Bike Smart2, this figure goes all the way up to 59.1 hp at 7,774 rpm — an increase of 3.4 hp (roughly 6%) achieved at an engine speed about 350 rpm lower.
This result clearly highlights the type of intervention: it is not simply about chasing a few extra horsepower more, rather it is a matter of making the engine stronger and more enjoyable in conditions where it is often ridden during a long journey.
At wide-open throttle peak power remains essentially unchanged: 170.2 hp at the rear wheel reached at 12,123 rpm with the Smart2, compared to 12,307 rpm in stock configuration. However, the comparison between the power curves highlights the Smart2 ability to help the V4 engine climbing smoothly and progressively toward its maximum rpm.
The result is a higher standard Multistrada capable of exploiting the V4’s strong character when used at full throttle; yet the engine is also more responsive, punchy, and easier to manage during partial-throttle riding.
